Climate
Taiwan is located in the subtropical climate zone, with average annual temperatures of 22¢J (72¢K) in the north and 24¢J (75¢K) in the south. From September to November the climate is at its most pleasant, with clear sunny days and average temperatures of 20¢J to 26¢J (68¢K to 79¢K). Evenings can be chilly, and you may also need a light jacket in Session rooms, which are air-conditioned.

Passport and Visa
All visitors must obtain entry visas before arrival in Taiwan. Visitors can apply for visas at R.O.C. embassies, consulates, or designated representative offices in their native countries. Visas are valid for 60 days from entry and 90 days from the date of issue.
However, citizens of the following countries holding passports valid for at least six months and confirmed return air tickets or proof of onward travel may enter Taiwan without applying for visas in advance. These countries are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands , New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. and U.S.A. Citizens of these countries are granted stays of 30 days. The 30 days' duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable.


Transportation
Buses, taxis, and limousine services are available at CKS International Airport. The buses tickets can be purchased at counters in the Arrivals section and the bus platforms are located outside the terminals. Adult single fares to Taipei vary from NTD 110 to 140. Taxis are also available outside Arrivals around the clock. Typical fare to Taipei is around NTD 1,100. Transportation from CKS airport to the Congress Venue takes about one hour.


Banking & Currency
Banks in Taiwan are open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The official currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (NTD). Other currencies such as the US dollar are seldom used outside of the duty-free shops in the international airports. Major foreign currencies can be exchanged at the CKS airport or the banks. The current exchange rate is about 1 USD = 32 NTD (subject to change). Major credit cards are accepted in many stores, but traveler's checks might be accepted by only tourist-oriented shops and hotels.


Insurance
The Organizing Committee does not hold by responsibility for individual medical, travel or personal insurance. Delegates are advised to take out their own travel insurance policies.
